How it Works

Once you are signed up for the program.

1. ASSESSMENT
We will Schedule a property assessment to determine if your yard is suitable to host a hive. We’ll help select a spot that’s safe for you and the bees. You can always Host at our farm. Come out and work the hive with us.

2. INSTALLATION
We’ll bring a new hive with our treatment-free bees, a queen and thousands of worker bees.

3. INSPECTIONS
Every few weeks, we stop by to check on the health of the colony. We’ll update you on how they’re doing. Better yet, get hands-on with us if you’d like!

4. HARVEST
Once the bees have made enough honey, The sweet reward of hosting includes 15 pounds of honey in late July or August 2023 we will harvest and bottle your own local honey from your hosted hive.  It is necessary to leave a certain amount of honey in each hive for the bees to have food during the coming winter. As a result if there is not enough surplus honey on
your hive, we will still be able to provide you with honey from our apiary.

At the end of the beekeeping season, we will remove the hive to prepare them for the coming winter or you will have the opportunity to purchase the bees and hive.

Basic Site Requirements
Along with any local government requirements, we require the following:

Hives must be placed no closer than 20 feet from all property lines.

It is preferable to have flyaway zones that make the bees fly over a tall bush or similar to get them flying 6+ feet or higher as soon as possible.

We have a maximum of 2 colonies (2  beehives). This helps keep competition low.

Neighbors must be notified of the future addition of bees. This is required in most areas, but is also good neighborly behavior.
Property must be accessible 24/7 or we must have access 24/7 for our routine visits or emergencies.
